💾 How to Fish Save Issues - Fixes

How to Fish saves automatically every minute and on Save / Main Menu / Quit; since patch 1.0.6 crashes no longer write to new save files. The single best habit is manually copying the Saves folder after important progress.

• Use the menu's Save / Main Menu / Quit option after big milestones — the save function was improved in later patches.
• Auto-save runs every minute during normal play.
• Regularly copy the whole Saves folder somewhere safe.
• The game is not listed on Steam Cloud — there is no automatic cross-device sync.

• Crashes no longer write to new save files.
• Normal saves: auto-save every minute, plus a manual save whenever the player presses Save / Main Menu / Quit.
• Manual saving after important progress is still the recommended habit.

• Verifying game files will not restore missing in-game items such as a lost Radar.
• If the Radar is gone: return to the Lighthouse Shop and check whether it can be repurchased (player-confirmed, not officially guaranteed).
• Missing saves: check the LocalLow folder and your own backups — there is no cloud copy to fall back on.

💡 Items lost after a patch are a known report category — the wiki tracks them, but the official recovery path today is only the shop repurchase check.

Because the game is not on Steam Cloud, your only safety net is a manual copy of the whole Saves folder — not individual files. The folder is small, so copying it takes seconds and can be done after every session that mattered.

• Copy the entire Saves folder (both paths above), not just the newest file — restores need whatever the game expects to find.
• Back up after big milestones: a new island, a boss kill, a large purchase.
• Moving to another PC: install the game first, run it once, then paste your backed-up Saves folder into the same LocalLow path.
• Keep at least two dated backups so a corrupted newer save never overwrites your last good one.

Steam's "Verify integrity of game files" repairs the game installation itself — broken or missing game files after a bad update. It does not touch your saves, and it does not restore in-game items (see the Radar case above). Use it when the game misbehaves after an update; use your own Saves backups when the problem is progress or items, not the installation.
