How to Kill Albatross in How to Fish

The Albatross keeps its distance in the air, which removes melee and short-range options from the table. Its dive-attack combo ("the rain") does extremely high damage.

The safe windows are after the dive rain stops and after it charges and ascends. Everything else is spent under cover.

Bring a sniper rifle or an Uzi — the bird maintains long distance and a shotgun is out of range for most of the fight.

• When it is at its farthest, stand under cover to avoid the dive-attack rain.
• After the rain stops, exit the cover and shoot a few rounds.
• After it charges and ascends, take the second window and shoot again.
• Return to cover and repeat until the white patience bar or the bird gives out.

Give the head to the Island 4 NPC — the next set of coordinates (military base + volcano route) becomes available after the item is accepted, not when the health bar hits zero.

The Albatross has a strict precondition most other bosses do not: the Tuna corpse must be on the ground, and you wait a few seconds. When the encounter misbehaves, check in this order: the corpse is still there (not sold, not picked up and stashed), the fight is being started in the open where the bird can reach it, and the earlier Island 4 tasks are complete. If the bird engaged but fled, the white patience bar emptied while you were under cover — the two output windows (after the rain stops, after the charge-and-ascend) are the only times the bar recovers ground, so take every one of them.

💡 Sniper or Uzi before the fight, not after: the bird's distance removes the shotgun option for most of the encounter, and re-arming mid-fight burns patience-bar time.
